You never know what will make a day memorable

The snorkeling here is like being in a Disney movie--thanks again Jen and Jim for telling us about this place!

Tomorrow we're taking our camera under water to try a few pictures.

But back to today's surprise. We were hanging around the inn's water side restaurant, when we noticed one of the guests cooking in the kitchen with the owner. We asked--and it turns out he was a professionally trained chef from northern Italy on an extended Indonesian vacation with his wife. He was making fresh pasta and then a few dishes to show Liza, the proprietor here. He offered us a sample of his first dish- a spectacular spinach ravioli with chopped seasoned tomatoes on the side. Unfortunately,we hadn't brought the camera. Then he made a seafood and pasta dish, which was heavenly! The attached picture can't capture it.
A half hour later he offered us a sample of a sweet fried dough (not pasta). Honestly, it was the yummiest you can imagine.

Turns out he and his wife had traveled extensively and had lots of great stories to share. We just spent the afternoon enjoying the tropical breeze and great company!
