Learning about the Tsunami

We hired a friendly taxi driver to show us around Banda Aceh-the city at the epicenter of the 2004 magnitude 9.3 earthquake and tsunami. 230,000 people died including relatives of our inn keeper and taxi driver. A significant part of this large city was totally leveled and washed away.
We went to the tsunami memorial museum, which was an emotional experience. They had movies of the actual flood waters ascending on the city.
We also saw a huge power company barge that had been stranded several miles inland.
New topic --- Sumatran coffee!!! OMG!!! Our taxi driver took us to a popular coffee restaurant. As we savored a cup, we noticed people eating delicious looking noodles. So we had lunch, and it was great.
Now we're at the airport waiting for a flight to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. Tomorrow we go back to Thailand-- Chaing Mai. Oh we passed on a $10 Baskin Robbins ice cream cone at the airport.
